The Brazilian Football Federation has adopted a new strategy to achieve this goal, channeling it through Diego Fernandes, a Brazilian businessman who, despite not holding an official role within the federation, has strong connections in the football world and with key leaders and players in the country.
Sources close to this effort report that discussions with representatives of the Italian coach are taking place very discreetly.
The objective is clear: Ancelotti should be in the Brazil dugout before the official FIFA dates in June, to lead the national team in matches against Ecuador and Paraguay, which are crucial for World Cup qualification.
This has become a top priority for the CBF, especially after the heavy 4-1 loss to Argentina, which left deep scars within the team’s atmosphere.
Although Brazil currently sits in fourth place in the qualification group, qualification is still not guaranteed, so the federation is seeking an “impact move” beyond the current results.
For his part, Ancelotti denied in a press conference last month that there had been any contact with the CBF. However, sources close to the situation confirm that discussions have taken place through individuals representing his interests.
