The leader of the coalition “Nisma Shqipëria Bëhet”, Altin Lapaj, held a meeting with citizens and farmers in Roskovec, where he raised the alarm about the state of agriculture and poverty in the country.
During his speech, Lapaj addressed the consequences of the “Open Balkans” agreement, emphasizing that it is directly harming local production. “Serbian wheat, due to the Open Balkans, comes here tax-free and is subsidized there. Meanwhile, our farmers are throwing their produce in the canal because imports enter the country illegally,” he said.
Lapaj called it unacceptable that Albania, a country rich in natural resources, continues to hold the lowest rank in Europe for wages and pensions. “It’s a fact: after 34 years of transition, we have the lowest wages and pensions in Europe,” he stressed, adding that the country is facing a deep demographic crisis. “We have a drastic decline in the population, and we are heading toward total dissolution.”
